Who is Be Stirred, Not Shaken?

The site’s contributors are a handful of like-minded Christians who keep God’s sabbath and holy days, and strive to live a life worthy of the calling we’ve received (Eph. 4:1).

As there are multiple people contributing, the studies on the site don’t reflect only one person’s views or opinions.  This means that occasionally articles may contradict each other, particularly on matters of prophecy or subjective interpretation—this is okay!  If God had wanted us to have all the details, He would have provided them.  He expects each of us to study, interpret, and make judgments based on what He’s given us in His word, which sometimes yields different theories or conclusions.

You’ll notice that we indicate who authored a particular post, but use screen names.  This is largely because this site isn’t about making a name for anyone or bringing attention to any person or personality.  The purpose of this site is to share some of our personal bible studies and meditations, to spur deeper thought and study into God’s word.  We encourage constructive comments, feedback, and/or questions on all posts.

Where did the name come from?

We chose the name “Be Stirred, Not Shaken” not only because it made us smile due to the play on words, but because it references two passages critical to our daily efforts to follow God and walk in His paths.

  • II Thes. 2:2-3 ~ “We ask you not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter…let no one deceive you by any means”
  • II Tim. 1:6-7 ~ “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you by the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”

These scriptures remind us that we have to continually use God’s spirit, not just let it sit dormant.  Like the Bereans referenced in Acts, we must be spending time with God’s and His word daily and learning to “rightly divide the word of truth” (II Tim. 2:15) in order have a firm foundation, a sound mind that is not easily shaken by this evil world and the events to come.

We’re always happy to hear from others who are pursuing God’s way, so please feel free to drop us a note at team @ bestirrednotshaken.com (no spaces).
